This Committee, made up of mental health professionals from Alberta Health Services and three local school authorities, undertook a thorough review of up-to-date research and practices to best respond to non-suicidal self-injurious behaviour (NSSI) in school settings. The committee members contributed their knowledge of school context and needs, recent NSSI cases, and best practices for responding to students who are self- harming.
