That Kid, Your Child, My Student (parent version)
That Kid, Your Child, My Student (parent version)
Posted December 2019
Why is it my child’s teacher won’t share the outcome of a situation? If my child has been impacted, why am I not getting the whole story? These are important questions for many parents and caregivers, and this presentation explores the reasoning for teacher confidentiality and communication about students.
The presentation is an adaptation of a blog article, “Dear Parent: About that Kid…” that made an impact around the world; author Amy Murray is currently Principal of Early Childhood Education at the Calgary French & International School in Calgary. She collaborated with MORE and Community Education Service (CES) to transform her writing into this 6-minute video presentation.
This version of “That Kid, Your Child, My Student” has been created specifically for parents and caregivers in complement to our teacher version of the same title. Reflection questions specific to parents and caregivers are provided at the beginning of this presentation and as a download.
NOTE: An evaluation form and Certificate of Completion are not provided as part of this course.
