What is Self-Harming? Basics for Parents to Know
Posted April 2020
This module has been developed to support parents and caregivers with basic information about what self-harming behaviour is, and some ways to respond if they have concerns about their young person and self-harming behaviour. Please note that self-harm is also referred to as non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) or self-injury.
This module provides examples of real situations experienced by parents, strategies supported by Alberta social workers, and a Parent-to-Parent Frequently Asked Questions section.
This module can complement work in school using the School-based Non-Suicidal Self-Injury protocol.
This is an open access course. Go to the “Curriculum” tab and click PREVIEW to view presentation without registering on the MORE website.
